Inspired again by the resonant phrase "homeland security", this work concerns itself with the issues of territory. Turf is staked, lines are drawn, property protected. We fashion our environments after a desire for security - or the illusion of it. But what we protect ourselves from is as much from within as from the outside. TERRITORIES reflects the uneasy marriage between risk and safety, fear and comfort. In the materials of artificial grass and jagged glass, elements are set in a horizontal composition to suggest danger underfoot. The result is a habitat that is perilous but pretty and belies a fragile serenity interrupted.
